A flight attendant has revealed the astronomical fines they can be handed if they fail to encourage passengers to follow a few simple rules.

In a TikTokKeana, 31, from Georgia, encourages viewers to “just listen” if they get on a flight and a staff member asks them to do certain things.

Some of your requests may include fastening seat belts, placing bags under seats, placing seats in an upright position, or securing tray tables.

Other things that will be reported include children over the age of two sitting on their parents’ laps and animals blocking the aisles.

While some passengers may find the requests annoying, Keana notes that the rules are in place solely for safety reasons and are enforced by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

In one TikTok, Keana, 31, from Georgia, encourages viewers to “just listen” if they get on a flight and a staff member asks them to do certain things.

The American Airlines employee writes in the video’s caption: “We are here for your safety, so those little inconveniences for you are part of our job.”

In an attempt to encourage responsive behavior from passengers, Keana adds: ‘Being nice is free.

“Getting off the no-travel list costs a lot of money, babe. Choose wisely.”

If Keana fails to provide instructions and passengers do not follow them, he says they can be fined $10,000.

Reiterating her point, the globetrotter tells viewers: ‘Just listen, just listen, please just listen.

“We ask you to do these things for a reason.”

Keana notes that the $10,000 fine is “per violation.”

So, ‘every time I don’t ask you to put your seat belt on, I don’t ask you to put your purse under[your seat]or I don’t ask you to lift that little tray table or put your seat up… That’s $10,000… and the FAA can do it if they agree.’

These things are primarily for your safety, which is why the FAA will fine us. We are here for your safety, so those little inconveniences for you are part of our job. Being nice is free. Getting off the no-fly list cost a lot of money, babe. Choose wisely. *These are my opinions and do not reflect the opinions of my company* *The Cash App part was a joke* Please comply. #flightattendantlife #fypp

To discourage any further insolence from passengers, Keana concludes: “I don’t care that the last flight attendant didn’t ask you (to follow the rules).

“They didn’t care about that fine. I care about that fine. So either they give it to me in CashApp or they comply.”

To date, Keana’s video has been viewed more than 70,000 times, with many viewers expressing disbelief at the huge fine.

One commenter wrote: “Yikes! Per violation… can you imagine all those potential fines on one flight? Wow, that can add up really fast!”

Another viewer wrote: “I will never complain or moan again. I won’t be fined for it!”

Keana noted in the comments section that she knows flight attendants who have “personally been fined for these reasons.”

It also reveals that FAA agents do not have to announce themselves when they are on board a flight, so they can take the crew by surprise.
