A woman was tragically shot dead after interrupting two robbers as they attempted to rob her husband.
Ying Zhu Liu, 57, heard a commotion around 11 p.m. outside her eighth-floor apartment on Manhattan’s Lower East Side.
She opened the door, alongside her 32-year-old son, and was confronted by two men trying to rob her husband.

She opened the door with her 32-year-old son and found two men trying to rob her husband.
Gunshots were fired and Liu was shot in the face. He died at the scene.
Police are searching for two suspects who fled on foot. One of them was wearing a black balaclava and a black and red hooded jacket.
The duo allegedly snatched the phone from Liu’s husband before fleeing the scene.
Neither her husband nor her son were injured in the incident.
The building itself features 16 residential units, as well as a commercial space and a preschool on the ground floor.
