A woman and her dog have died after a violent crash between a public bus and a car in Perth’s northern suburbs.

Emergency crews were called after it was reported that a white Hyundai i30 hatchback had collided with a Transperth bus on Warwick Rd in Warwick about 8am on Monday.

The car caught fire after the accident, which occurred about 20 meters west of Lloyd Drive.

The 50-year-old woman driving the car was treated by paramedics at the scene.

The ambulance took her to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, where she died a short time later.

Three dogs were also traveling with the woman in the car.

One dog died in the accident, while the other two dogs were later found by council wardens after fleeing the scene.

The bus driver, 48, and the passengers on board were unharmed.

It is understood the bus was mainly carrying school children traveling to school.

Officers from the Major Accident Investigation Section are investigating the incident.
