A beachgoer found a body on the beach on Wednesday morning and police are confident it is that of the missing man.

A report will be prepared for the coroner, but the death is not being treated as suspicious.

The latest incident comes after another diver died at Altona Beach in Port Phillip Bay in January.

The man, who was swimming at the popular beach, was reported missing in the afternoon.

Rescuers began a search for the man and his body was found that same night.

A report will be prepared for the coroner, but police are not treating the man's death as suspicious.

Three years earlier, a woman died on the same beach while snorkeling.

The 20-year-old girl failed to surface the water, forcing her brothers to raise the alarm to rescuers.

Emergency crews, including water police, spent three days searching for the woman before they were able to recover her body.

Altona Beach is the most popular beach in Melbourne’s western suburbs, known for its calm, clear waters.

Locals and tourists visit to swim, fish, snorkel and kitesurf.
