Brittany Cartwright has opened up about reaching her “breaking point” in her sexless marriage to Jax Taylor and claims they have discussed the possibility of “seeing other people” amid their split.
Cartwright, 35, announced in February that she and Taylor, 44, had decided to separate after four years of marriage and a child together.
In a new interview with Us weeklyThe Vanderpump Rules alum said that her and Taylor’s sex life had ‘gone down a lot’ in recent years and that it started to affect her self-esteem.
‘I felt like I wasn’t good enough. If you start to feel like your partner doesn’t love you and is also being mean to you, it’s like, “What am I doing here?” I basically live with a roommate. I reached my breaking point,” she explained.
“I don’t want to be unhappy for the rest of my life. I don’t want to be in a sexless marriage for the rest of my life. I don’t want to be arguing with my husband for the rest of my life.
When she attempted to talk to Taylor about her lack of sex, Cartwright claimed that he would tell her that she was “44 and tired,” a response that was not enough for her.

“I thought, ‘Oh my God, everyone has kids and not everyone is going through this!’ I can’t talk to him about things; he’s always defensive. He doesn’t care about my side,” she said. Cartwright.
She then recalled the ‘big fight’ that led to her moving out of her $2 million home in Valley Village and how their disputes got worse after filming on Bravo’s The Valley wrapped.
Cartwright said she ‘packed my bag and said, ‘I have to get out of here” after a fight broke out because Jax was partying until 4 a.m. one night.
That same night, Cartwright went out with the couple’s close friend and The Valley co-star Kristen Doute, but returned home at 10 o’clock.
‘So he came out much later than me. I don’t know if the next morning he was hungover or what, but he came and started a big fight with me,” he recalled. “He, like, made up a story in his head that [Kristen’s boyfriend]Luke approached him and told him that we were already having problems in our marriage at that time. He gets into her head. He doesn’t like to think that I’m telling people about our problems. He wants me to keep everything to myself. He doesn’t want me to talk to anyone else about this. …But Luke never actually texted her. So he just made up this big story to fight me the next morning because he had insecurities in his own head.
Cartwright felt that Taylor was simply trying to “start a fight with me” like “numerous times” before.
“I thought, ‘Okay, this is crazy. I can’t deal with this. Obviously it is a toxic situation. If you don’t get help, then Cruz and I are not going to live here right now. “Because I just didn’t feel like it wasn’t right,” she said.
Cartwright is currently holed up in an Airbnb just down the street from the couple’s marital home as she and Taylor continue to co-parent Cruz, who will turn three in April.

He added: ‘I need to make sure Cruz doesn’t live in a house where his parents fight; That could be a horrible way to grow up.
Cartwrights insists that she and Jax don’t fight in front of their son and that she believes Cruz “is happier that we’re not in the same house right now, and that tells me a lot.”
Although he refuses to “go back into a toxic situation” with Taylor, Cartwright said there’s “definitely a chance” they could get back together.
But she has yet to see the changes she wants to see in him.
‘I don’t see enough effort on your part. He needs to go to therapy. “He doesn’t need to be at the bar all the time,” she said, referring to his bar, Jax’s Studio City.
‘He needs to respect me more and stop taking me for granted. I was the closest person to him and I was like his punching bag. He was always hitting me. I can’t deal with that for the rest of my life.’
And he continued: ‘The fighting has to stop. We were constantly digging into each other. We get to that point, which I think a lot of marriages go through, where everything the other person does gets on your nerves.
‘That’s a horrible feeling and a horrible way to live. That’s one of the main reasons I knew we needed space for each other.’
Cartwright is still “in love” with Taylor, but insists she is a different person now than when they started dating in 2015.

After three months apart, Cartwright revealed that she and Taylor have discussed dating other people ‘here and there.’
‘I was very naive at first with Vanderpump Rules. “I was on a TV show, embarrassed by Jax, but I was madly in love and just wanted to be with him,” she told readers.
‘I’m different now. “I can stand up for myself and not take their shit anymore.”
She said she and Taylor “need to have a serious conversation” about the next step in their relationship and whether or not a divorce is imminent.
“Every time I try to talk to him, it turns into an argument, but obviously I’m not going to do that for a long time,” she told the outlet. ‘I’m spending money on an Airbnb. I’d love to be home.’
Although they have yet to discuss what would happen to their assets if they decide to divorce, Cartwright said she would “love” to take over their Valley Village home.
The first season of the Vanderpump Rules spinoff, The Valley, premiered last month, marking Jax and Brittany’s return to reality TV after Bravo fired them in 2020.
Although being on reality TV “normally” doesn’t affect the dynamic of their relationship, Cartwright said she noticed things became more tense between them when filming wrapped last summer.
“We had always talked about having more children and he started to question it. We weren’t having intimacy. … We were getting on each other’s nerves. I am not perfect; I was yelling at him too. He just started to get sick. He stayed at the bar more. A lot of things accumulated,’ he explained.
Having been separated for three months, Cartwright revealed that she and Taylor have discussed dating other people ‘here and there.’
‘We act like it’s okay, but I’m not sure. I think she would be scared if she saw me with a man. I would be upset too. You can get over those things, but the first one can be weird,” he explained.

She admits that dating can be “difficult” because she is a reality TV star.

‘I’m trying to keep myself busy by exercising, spending time with my friends and talking to my family. I am focusing on my physical and mental health. This revenge corps is about to go crazy! I’m getting my shine back.’
Last week, Cartwright spoke to DailyMail.com about the real reason behind the split and how the birth of her first child, Cruz, in 2021 made her reevaluate her marriage to the controversial Vanderpump Rules villain.
“Jax is Jax, whether he’s on TV or not, that’s something everyone needs to understand,” he said.
“So for me it was like standing up for myself. “Having a child really woke me up and lifted the veil a little bit of what I deserve and what I’m going to endure for the rest of my life,” she continued.
‘It wasn’t because we were on a television show. It was simply because of the way we interacted with each other over and over again.
‘And I just knew I had to… figure out what I want to do for my future and make things a super positive life situation for my son. That’s all that matters to me.
Brittany also admitted that the couple was put under financial hardship when they were fired from Vanderpump Rules in 2020, which contributed to the fractures in their marriage.
“It was definitely a difficult time in our relationship,” he confessed.
“It kind of changed gears and I became the breadwinner because I was still working, I was doing commercials and different brand deals,” he continued.
“I was very lucky that all that happened to me, but Jax wasn’t having the same thing happening to him. So it was a big change in our relationship that took its toll for a while.”
Brittany landed a lucrative endorsement deal with weight loss company Jenny Craig in 2022 that was rumored to be worth $2 million.
The Kentucky-born waitress also had a big clothing collaboration with fast fashion retailer Cupshe.
