Brian Cox reached out to his Long Day’s Journey Into Night co-star Patricia Clarkson on Tuesday night.
The Succession actor, 77, who has been married to his wife Nicole for 22 years, and the actress, 64, seemed to get along well at a post-show party at the Londoner Hotel.
The pair star in a new revival of Eugene O’Neill’s Long Day’s Journey Into Night this spring 2024 in the West End.
In the production, Brian plays the flawed father of the dysfunctional Irish-American family Tyrone, while Patricia plays his opium-addicted wife.
The couple was seen kissing on stage during the production at Wyndham’s Theater that same night.

Set in August 1912 at the Tyrone summer home in Connecticut, Eugene’s powerful, semi-autobiographical play follows a single day in the family’s life.
As day begins to give way to night, the Tyrones struggle with their own flaws, addictions, and struggles, blaming and resenting each other in the process.
Written by O’Neill between 1939 and 1941 and published posthumously in 1956, Long Day’s Journey Into Night won O’Neill the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1957 and the Tony Award for Best Play.
It comes after earlier this year, Brian and his wife Nicole Ansari-Cox shared the story of their first meeting and how they didn’t get together until eight years later.
The actor and his wife, the 55-year-old actress, said there were “fireworks” during their first meeting in 1990, when Brian was on a world tour of King Lear.
However, despite the “click,” it wasn’t meant to be at the time, even though Brian initially thought she would “come back for him” after their evening together.

The Succession star told Sunday Times Magazine: ‘I was on tour in 1990 when I met Nicole at a party in Hamburg. We talked about work and all kinds of spiritual topics until late into the night. I was 44 and she was 23, but we kind of clicked.
“A few weeks later I was in a restaurant in Milan with the cast when she walked in. I thought, ‘She’s come for me,’ and I got up. Then she sat down quickly thinking, ‘Damn idiot,’ because she clearly hadn’t. After I didn’t see her again for eight years.
Explaining the reason for their time apart, Nicole said: ‘But then life took over. I worked in Zurich, Paris and Vienna and we didn’t see each other again for eight years.’
But it wasn’t the end of the road for the couple, who reunited when Brian was starring in Art on Broadway and Nicole left a note for the doorman.
Brian recalled calling Nicole 15 minutes before the curtain went up and she ran back after he invited her to the show.
After the show, Brian and Nicole spent the night together after an evening of tango dancing, and he admitted that they have been together ever since.
However, it hasn’t been without its tough times, as Brian told how they endured a fateful night in Texas two years into their romance, where Brian declared they needed to separate or get married.
He said: ‘We went to the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas the next day. That was 24 years ago. “It was a lot of fun and that’s been our relationship ever since.”
Nicole also confessed that her relationship has faced difficulties, as she stated that it was “four years of pure hell”, which was helped by therapy.
She said: ‘Our 25 years together have not been a fairy tale. We had four years that were hell. We went to couples therapy and it helped us a lot. He was always willing to work on it. Because after that first crush, inevitably every relationship has moments when you have to decide: is this worth my time?’
The loved-up couple has been married since 2002 and share two sons, Orson Jonathan and Torin Kamran.
Last year, Brian revealed on Live With Kelly and Ryan that he and Nicole renewed their wedding vows in a surprise ceremony in Las Vegas.
The star explained: “We had been separated for a while, she had been travelling, and then we sat down and said, ‘Where do we go from here? Do we break up or move on?’ And we thought, ‘Well, let’s go ahead and get married.’
Elsewhere in The Times interview, Nicole admitted that Succession “didn’t mean much to her,” but she’s glad it means everyone knows they see the value she’s always had in her husband.
Brian’s performance in Succession was critically acclaimed and earned him a Golden Globe.
However, she has revealed that success has come at a price, admitting she is mourning the loss of her privacy with her celebrity status.
Last year, Brian told Barley magazine: ‘It’s been a phenomenal journey for me. There is no doubt that it has changed my life in many ways.
‘I’ve lost my anonymity, you know, I’ve lost all that. All that is over. I used to be the guy you’d say, ‘Oh, you were in such and such or you weren’t, or no, you weren’t’… but now I’m Logan Roy and everyone just wants me to tell them to fuck off. * off!’

He talked about how fans commonly ask him for ‘fuck selfies’ and said, “I say they can have one for $500.”
He later added to The Guardian: “I lost my anonymity and realized that was what was important to me.”
‘I have never experienced anything like this. I mean, you ask for success in your job and you get it, and then you have to face the consequences.
‘I have always valued my privacy, but it no longer exists. I’ve been very lucky to have him for so long. You know, I’ve been doing this for over 60 years. And finally it’s over.’
