Two police officers were injured, one with a serious cut to his arm, following a car stop in Ipswich, Queensland.

Two police officers have been injured, one with a serious cut to his arm, after a passenger in a car they stopped emerged with a knife in south-west Queensland.

The police helicopter followed the car through several southern Brisbane suburbs before tire deflation devices were used to stop it on Boundary Road at the Antimony Street intersection in Carole Park, shortly after 1am on Sunday. .

Police are alleged to have approached the car when a passenger got out wielding a knife and slashed a senior South Brisbane district constable on the arm.

Two police officers were injured, one with a serious cut to his arm, following a car stop in Ipswich, Queensland.

The officer was seriously injured and his colleague immediately provided first aid.

A second officer allegedly suffered a cut finger while arresting three people in the car.

The two officers were taken to the hospital for treatment. Neither officer’s injuries are considered life-threatening.

Detectives have charged a 37-year-old man from Cherbourg with acts intended to resist lawful arrest and he will face Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday.

The driver, a 25-year-old Goodna woman, was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, evading police, five counts of theft and four counts of driving without a license.

The woman is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday.
