"People Cribbing About Unfair Systems": India's U-19 World Cup-Winning Captain's Cryptic Post After USA Squad Snub | Cricket News

Indian Under-19 World Cup-winning captain Unmukt Chand has responded with a cryptic post after being overlooked for USA’s upcoming five-match T20I series against Canada. The player, who led India to the Under-19 World Cup title in 2012, shifted his base to the US in 2021 – a move he apparently made due to the lack of cricketing opportunities in India. Chand was set to qualify for the US national cricket team this month but his criticism of the upcoming Canada T20I series has dented his hopes of representing the US at the 2024 T20 World Cup.

The US T20I series versus Canada will start on April 7, while the final match will be played on April 13. After this, the US will take on Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series, which will be followed by the T20 World Cup.

“Irony of life – I keep hearing people whine about unfair systems and the need for healthy change, but when the same people come into power, they use the same unjust means. It is high time that we bring the change within ourselves and remain steadfast. for what is good,” Chand wrote on X after the US announced their 15-man squad for Canada T20Is.

Chand was left out of the US squad despite scoring 1500 runs in 45 Major League Cricket (MLC) matches. He is the second all-time leading points scorer in the history of the tournament.

Meanwhile, Monank Patel will lead the US against Canada, with the first match in Houston, Texas on April 7.

Corey Anderson, a former New Zealand all-rounder, will also mark his return to international cricket after six years.

The 33-year-old played 13 Tests, 49 ODIs and 31 T20Is for New Zealand from 2012 to 2018 and once held the record for the fastest hundred in ODIs.
