Democratic strategist Paul Begala joked Friday morning on CNN that he “slept like a baby” after President Joe Biden’s classified documents debacle.

Begala, who was a top advisor to President Bill Clinton, revealed: “I would wake up every two hours and wet the bed.”

Biden’s re-election prospects were shaken Thursday with the release of special counsel Robert Hur’s classified documents report, which referenced the president’s “diminished powers” and said a jury would find him “a sympathetic, well-intentioned old man.” and with a bad memory.”

‘This is terrible for Democrats. And anyone with a working brain knows that,” Begala said.

Begala noted that Biden “can’t go back to being 45 years old,” but he can go on the attack.

“I would wake up every two hours and wet the bed,” veteran Democratic strategist Paul Begala (below right) said during an interview with CNN Friday morning, commenting on special counsel Robert Hur’s report on classified documents.

“Instead of calling a press conference and saying, ‘I’m really smart,’ you attack the other guy,” the veteran Democrat advised. “So with Biden it’s not all ‘I’m great’ but ‘the others are really harmful, dangerous, a threat.'”

The president responded to Hur’s report Thursday night with a hastily arranged news conference, in which he angrily rejected the claims, especially that he did not remember when his son Beau Biden died.

But during the question-and-answer session he also referred to Egypt’s president being from “Mexico,” providing further evidence that the 81-year-old is losing a step.

“I think Biden made it worse, there’s no doubt about it,” Begala said at one point during the interview, although he also clarified that the press conference was not entirely wrong.

“Well, no, I want to see more of Joe Biden, and the mistakes are built in, but instead of just saying, ‘I’m fine,’ he just needs to be on the attack 24/7 for the next 269 days. days.’

Begala also saw a missed opportunity by not attacking Hur more directly.

“This Republican lawyer was appointed by Trump as the federal prosecutor for Maryland,” Begala said.

He also noted that Hur worked for a “right-wing judge” as well as conservative Chief Justice William Rehnquist, whose appointment Biden voted against as a U.S. senator.

“This guy has donated to Republicans, he’s partisan and the only job he had was to impeach or not to impeach,” Begala said.

Instead, Begala complained, “the only thing he didn’t add was a legal disclaimer, that this is a political ad in support of Donald Trump.” It was a totally cheap shot.

‘What the hell was this guy doing editorializing so, so out of his depth?’ Begala reflected. “And choose the most damaging political attack he could launch against Joe Biden.”

“I think it stinks,” the veteran Democratic strategist added.
