Karen Pittman, who played Professor Nya Wallace in the “Sex and the City spin-off,” is leaving after two seasons, citing ‘scheduling conflicts.’

“It’s been a pleasure to have Karen Pittman play the smart and amazing Professor Nya Wallace for the first two seasons of And Just Like That,” a Max spokesperson said. Deadline.

‘As we have enjoyed working with this dynamic actress, so have others. Due to her commitments to two other streamer series, it has become clear that filming three shows at once is not possible,” they continued.

The statement concluded: ‘Due to the realities of production, we are disappointed to announce that scheduling conflicts will not allow us to continue with this character as part of Season 3 of And Just Like That.

Nya isn’t the only new character to leave in season three, with Che Diaz (played by Sara Ramirez) also leaving.

Kristin Davis recently revealed that filming for And Just Like That… season three will begin soon.

The spin-off — which stars Davis as Charlotte York alongside Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie Bradshaw and Cynthia Nixon as Miranda Hobbes — will return in 2025 after the WGA and SAG/AFTRA strike delayed work on new scripts.

Sharing a montage of behind-the-scenes moments from the show, Kristin wrote on Instagram: ‘It’s almost that time again… can’t wait to be reunited with my AJLT family.’

The show was renewed back in August on HBO’s streaming service Max, just days before the long-awaited return of Kim Cattrall’s iconic Sex and the City character Samantha Jones.

In a statement, Max’s Head of Original Content Sarah Aubrey said: “As we approach the highly anticipated season finale on Thursday, we raise our cosmos to (showrunner) Michael Patrick King and his magnificent team of writers, producers, cast and crew, who continue to charm us, 25 years later, with dynamic friendships and engaging stories.’

Aubrey added, “We can’t wait for audiences to see where season three will take our favorite New Yorkers.”

Showrunner Michael Patrick King said, “We’re thrilled to spend more time in the Sex and the City universe telling new stories about the lives of these relatable and aspirational characters played by these amazing actors.”
