“Everything was done to try and save him but it wasn’t to be and I know that everyone involved is really, really hurt at the moment and I think they wish they could just wake up from this nightmare,” he shared. 9News Perth.
Sir. Trimmer, who moved to WA from the UK when he was still a teenager, graduated from the Joondalup Police Academy and moved to Kalgoorlie in 2017, where he became known in the local community while playing for the local rugby team.
He starred in the British TV series Wanted Down Under and gave advice to a teenager about life in Australia before they migrated.
He later joined the Gang Crime Squad and the Tactical Response Squad.
“This extraordinary officer loved helping the community and was a great example of WA policing and it’s just such a tragedy,” Mr Blanch said.
‘(He was) a very, very confident, capable young man with his whole life ahead of him and that’s how sad this is.’
The WA Police Union said Mr Trimmer was a “valued member of the blue family”.
“Any time there is a death of a police officer, no matter how, it really shakes the police family at its core,” said President Paul Gale.
