While Emma Stone’s shock win for Best Actress and John Cena’s nude onstage skit entertained viewers on the Oscars telecast, plenty of entertainment is not being seen by the TV cameras.
The three-and-a-half-hour show, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, saw several headline-making moments, but some with a pass showed things that happened during commercial breaks.
Perhaps nothing from the ceremony itself, outside of the awards, surprised viewers as much as actor and wrestler Cena’s naked reference to the 50th anniversary of a streaker named Robert Opel runs onto the stage at the ceremonyinterrupts the late actor-presenter David Niven.
However, behind-the-scenes footage posted on social media showed that Cena was not completely naked as he wore more than just the envelope on stage to cover himself.
One reporter noted that Cena was carrying what is known as a ‘modesty bag’ as ‘full nude is too violent for TV.’

An outlet was able to show the process as the nominees were announced, with Cena finally covering up in a gold toga to end the presentation.
Elsewhere, much was made of Emma Stone’s surprise top female win for Poor Things, with many seeing Killers of the Flower Moon star Lily Gladstone as favourite.
Behind the scenes snoops caught Stone in a panicked reaction backstage after her win, the second Oscar of her career, as she ran to greet a friend in the same dress she claimed to be suffering from a ‘wardrobe malfunction’ ahead of her speech.
One of the more anticipated moments outside the awards was Ryan Gosling’s performance of his Barbie musical number, ‘I’m Just Ken’, which he turned into a massive song and dance number that wowed the crowd.
The Best Supporting Actor nominee brought the ‘Kenergy’ wearing a sparkly pink suit as he oozed confidence on stage – accompanied by his Barbie co-stars and Guns N Roses guitarist Slash, 58.
While the performance began with Gosling wearing shades and sitting in the audience with Barbie star Margot Robbie, he was quickly seen leaving the stage after the performance to greet his mother.
After giving her a hug, he was then reunited with co-star Robbie, who congratulated him on the achievement.
Gladstone’s loss to Stone was considered one of the biggest snubs of the ceremony, with Stone himself appearing stunned.

A photo taken during the commercial showed no hard feelings as Gladstone smiled as he gathered with Stone, fellow nominee Annette Bening and Barbie star Margot Robbie.
After the show, Killers of the Flower Moon director Martin Scorsese – himself notoriously only won once for best director – went straight to his star to comfort her.
The pair embraced in a big hug and kiss as Gladstone greeted several other well-wishers.
Da’Vine Joy Randolph made an emotional start to the Oscars when she broke down in tears after winning the coveted supporting actress award for The Holdovers.
Tears streamed down her face as she received a standing ovation for her crowning achievement as she began her speech by saying: ‘God is so good. God is so good.
‘I thank all the people who have stepped on my path and been there for me, who have ushered me in and guided me. I am so thankful for all you beautiful people out there. For so long I always wanted to be different and now I realize that I just have to be myself. And I thank you. I thank you for seeing me.’
After the speech and during a commercial break, several gathered around Randolph – a first-time nominee and winner – to congratulate her on the win and the speech.
He was only briefly seen but often heard during the ceremony, but speaker – and award-winning actor – David Alan Grier made some noise as he warmed up his audience before the show.

He joked that even though they wouldn’t see him on the show, the In Living Color comic told them to ‘admire my body’ because he was ‘a real badass’ to huge laughs.
Grier also reportedly joked to the crowd of Hollywood stars, “Don’t screw this up.”
As for the actual awards, Oppenheimer stood out as the night’s biggest winner with seven including top honors and big wins for Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr. and Christopher Nolan.
Al Pacino announced Oppenheimer as the winner of Best Picture without bothering to name all the other nominees.
Cillian Murphy won the Oscar for actor in a leading role after being nominated for an Oscar for the first time in his career, beating Bradley Cooper, Maestro, Colman Domingo, Rustin, Paul Giamatti, The Holdovers and Jeffrey Wright, The American. Fiction.
Robert Downey Jr. finally won the elusive Oscar in the Supporting Actor category for Oppenheimer after sitting stone-faced as host Kimmel made a very awkward laugh about his drug use.
Billie Eilish and brother Finneas O’Connell won Barbie’s sole award in the Outstanding Original Song category for What Was I Made For?
