The Ole Miss-Oklahoma game had to be paused on Saturday after a medical emergency

The game between Ole Miss and Oklahoma had to be suspended on Saturday after a medical emergency on the bench.

The Rebels led 26-14 with 11 1/2 minutes left in the fourth quarter when the action stopped and the television cameras moved away from the field.

It was soon learned that a doctor on the Ole Miss staff had fainted. In terrifying scenes, emergency medical services rushed across the countryside to treat him.

According to ESPN, the doctor never lost consciousness and was seen walking through the tunnel a few minutes later.

The employee had to be helped off the field to a waiting ambulance.

During the delay, the Ole Miss team knelt to pray for the doctor, believed to be Dr. Kurre Luber.

A few minutes later, however, Lane Kiffin’s players were back on the field looking for their sixth win of the season.

And, despite the midgame scare, the Rebels won 26-14.

According to the Oxford Surgery Center, Luber serves as an “orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist” for teams at the University of Mississippi.

He treats student-athletes of all sports and performs “minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee and ankle joints.”
