A three-year-old boy is rushed to hospital after falling from the ‘top floor’ of an apartment block, while four people are arrested on suspicion of child neglect

A toddler has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after falling from a block of flats in Southampton.

The three-year-old boy was reported to have jumped from the top floor of the property near Hoglands Park in the city.

Hampshire Police said today that officers had arrested four people on suspicion of child neglect: two women, aged 26 and 45, and two men, aged 29 and 45.

A force spokesman said: ‘We were called at 6.35pm on Wednesday 4 September to reports of concerns for the welfare of a three-year-old boy at an address on South Front in Southampton.

‘The boy was reported to have fallen from a window. He was taken to hospital, where he is in a serious condition.

‘Police attended and remain at the scene at this time conducting investigations into the circumstances of the incident.’

The spokesman said of those arrested: “All four remain in police custody at this time.

‘Anyone who was in the area at the time and saw what happened, or anyone who has information that could assist our enquiries, is asked to call 101 quoting reference number 44240380147.’
