Three men and a woman have died after a traffic accident.

Shortly after 5.45am (Saturday 24 February 2024), emergency services were called to Back Channel Road, Wardell, south of Ballina in northern New South Wales, following reports of an accident.

Officers attached to the Richmond Police District attended and located a blue Mazda BT50 vehicle that had left the road and rolled.

The driver and three passengers, two men and a woman, died at the scene.

A crime scene has been established while specialist police from the Accident Investigation Unit investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A report will be prepared for the coroner’s information.

Road closures are in place and drivers are urged to avoid the area.
