Roads have been closed after scaffolding fell from a construction site in Sydney’s CBD.
Police blocked Pitt Street between Bathurst and Liverpool Street after they were called to a construction site at around 9.30am on Thursday.
Part of a crane platform fell onto an Australia Post truck.
A man in his 50s was assessed by NSW Ambulance but did not require treatment.
Photographs from the scene showed the rear of the vehicle had been completely crushed and the roof had collapsed.
A crane was raising the scaffolding when the rope broke.
Neighbor Brayden Tory said he heard crashing noises when he ran outside to see what was causing the commotion.
“I just heard this ‘doof, doof, doof’ and then I saw that half the frame (of the crane) had fallen off,” he told the Daily Telegraph.

‘The rope broke and the vehicle crashed into the truck.
‘An older man stepped out of the way… it’s lucky no one was killed.
“Two meters of difference and (the guy) would have died.”
One construction worker described it as a scene from a movie.
“It sounded like an explosion,” he said.
“There was a loud bang, followed by a rumble and a clang. Then there was a huge cloud of dust… debris and shit everywhere.
‘It was like something out of a movie.’
