South Sydney Rabbitohs captain Cameron Murray and his fiancée Miranda Cross welcomed their first child into the world just in time for the historic NRL season opener in Las Vegas.

The couple shared images of their beautiful daughter Avalon on social media, after Murray proposed to his partner on a Sydney beach in 2023 after seven years of dating.

‘Our girl is here. Avalon Georgia Murray was born on February 13, 2024,” Miranda posted.

‘We have had the most magical week absorbing every moment together. You are more than we could have ever dreamed of, our girl Avy, perfect in every way.

“One life together will never be enough.”

The young couple were congratulated by the Rabbitohs on social media.

“The latest member of the Rabbitohs family,” the club posted.

“Congratulations to Cameron and Miranda on the birth of your beautiful baby girl, Avalon Georgia Murray.”

‘A large number of teammates took to social media to also congratulate the young family.

‘Congratulations family. Welcome to the world of Avalon,” posted Cody Walker.

“Congratulations guys, I can’t wait to meet your little princess,” added prostitute Damien Cook.

‘Unreal Legends is glad everyone is safe. Congratulations,” said new recruit Jack Wighton.

And there was plenty of commentary from players from other clubs too, including Cowboys bookend Reuben Cotter and Bulldogs star Josh Addo-Carr.

Even AFL star Trent Cochin congratulated the young couple, posting: ‘Congratulations guys! Such a special moment.’

Meanwhile, Souths star half Cody Walker has a ’90 per cent chance’ of recovering from his calf injury in time for South Sydney’s historic season opener in Las Vegas.

Walker was due to captain the Indigenous team in Friday night’s All Stars clash but withdrew after injuring his calf during training.

Since even minor calf strains can require weeks of sideline, the injury casts doubt on Walker’s ability to suit up at Allegiant Stadium on March 3.

Walker was seen wearing a brace on his right calf while watching Saturday’s 28-6 defeat of St George Illawarra in Kogarah, but appeared to walk without problems afterwards.

He will fly to the United States with the Rabbitohs early next week and is expected to face Manly.

The 34-year-old’s inclusion would be a huge boost for Souths, who are looking to make an early statement after missing out on last season’s NRL finals.

“Cody has a 90 percent chance to play,” Souths coach Demetriou said.

“As he finishes his rehab runs early next week, he will join the team and train all week leading up to the first round.”

Souths will welcome back Latrell and Shaq Mitchell after both were absent from the Charity Shield win, having played for the Indigenous All Stars the previous night.

Damien Cook and Siliva Havili, who were rested for the win over the Dragons, are also “sure starters” for Las Vegas.

A relieved Demetriou confirmed that there had been no new additions to the emergency room on Saturday night.
