A woman in New Zealand attempted to sue her boyfriend after he didn’t take her to the airport as agreed, causing her to miss a flight and a concert.
The woman, who was not named in the Dispute Tribunal ruling, had arranged for her partner of six years to drop her off to catch her flight, but he never arrived. Stuff reported.
She missed her plane and was forced to travel the next day.

The couple had also agreed that he would look after their dogs while she was away, but he did not do so.
The woman took the man to court claiming that their agreement to take him to the airport was a legally binding contract.
He hoped to claim the cost of the trip the next day, as well as the cost of putting his dogs in kennels.
Court referee Krysia Cowi rejected the woman’s claims, saying: “Partners, friends and colleagues make social arrangements, but they are unlikely to be legally enforceable unless the parties perform some act that demonstrates an intention to be bound by their promises.”
“When friends don’t keep their promises, the other person may suffer a financial consequence, but they may not be able to be compensated for that loss.”
The couple is no longer together.
