Pixie Lott has revealed she was left “completely devastated” after starring in a West End production of Breakfast At Tiffany’s in 2016.

The singer, 33, was cast in the lead role of Holly Golightly, famously played by Audrey Hepburn in the 1961 film.

But Pixie said the stage production was not based on the film but on Truman Capote’s novel, which was much “darker.”

The hitmaker received rave reviews for her performance, but inhabiting the character night after night took its toll.

speaking to Sun, Pixie said: “It was based on the book, not the movie.” The film is much lighter. But in the book she loses everything: her husband, her baby, her life, her cat. All.

‘At the end of the show, I was on the stage floor crying my eyes out. Night after night after night for about a year, eight shows a week.

‘In the end, I was a completely destroyed version of myself. It couldn’t function properly at all. “It really affected me mentally.”

Pixie added that she was “living with” the bad mindset formed during production for years and that it took her a while to get out of that “mood.”

The Voice Kids judge recounted how she turned to Google to find ways to return to a positive state of mind that she eventually found through meditation.

Pixie, who took a break from the music industry after the birth of her son Albert last year, is back with her new single Somebody’s Daughter.

The song is about considering who you’re talking to before sending someone rude messages online, something Pixie has experienced.

It’s been 10 years since the release of Pixie’s third self-titled album and she feels like she now has a lot more creative control over her music.

Pixie rose to fame with her hit debut album, Turn It Up, in 2009 and soon after met her now-husband, Oliver Cheshire.

Pixie said that the theater production was not based on the film but on Truman Capote's novel, which was much 'darker' and took a toll on her mental health.

Earlier this year, Pixie confirmed Albert’s adorable name and gender after keeping it a secret.

She shared a snap of her son’s christening and, in the caption, announced that they named their baby Albert Charles Cheshire.

Pixie wrote: ‘Albert Charles Cheshire. It’s already been the most incredible time of our lives with you, little Bertie, and we feel incredibly lucky that you’ve chosen us to be your myd xx.’

She sweetly cradled her baby, who was swaddled in a blue blanket and a knitted hat, while model Oliver kissed her on the cheek outside the church.
