A Bengal tiger injured two people on Sunday after breaking open its cage while being transferred to a city in Pakistan’s Punjab province, officials said.

Punjab Wildlife Department Director General Mudassar Riaz Malik told PTI that a resident of Multan, identified as Waqas Ahamd, had purchased the Bengal tiger from Faizi in Lahore.

“When Waqas brought the big cat to Multan from Lahore on Sunday, he broke open its cage at Multan, about 350 kilometers from Lahore, and went into the fields there,” he said, adding that the tiger’s owner informed the wildlife department informed. the incident.

“The department sent a team from Multan. After a hectic operation lasting several hours, the wildlife officials rescued it. Before the big cat was rescued, two persons were injured,” the DG said.

He added that the injured have been shifted to a hospital in Multan where their condition is said to be out of danger.

The official said the owner of the Bengal tiger would be fined for transporting the big cat without informing the wildlife department.

He said the tiger had been shifted to Multan Zoo.
