Naveen Jindal and Sita Soren are among the latest BJP members to have tickets: 5 points

Naveen Jindal and Sita Soren, who have just joined BJP, have tickets

New Delhi:
The BJP’s fifth list of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections includes some people who have crossed over to the party from other organizations. These include industrialist Naveen Jindal and former Jharkhand Mukti Morcha MLA Sita Soren.

Here’s your 5-point cheat sheet:

  1. Mr. Jindal was also a Congress MP. He represented the Kurukshetra constituency in the Lok Sabha from 2004 to 2014 as a Congress member. This time, he said he wants to contribute to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s agenda of ‘Viksit Bharat’.

  2. Mr Jindal had lost to Kurukshetra in 2014. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, the country has made progress in the past decade and many historic steps have been taken, such as the removal of Article 370 from the Constitution.

  3. The dream of a Ram temple in Ayodhya has also been realised, Mr Jindal said. The BJP has said that Mr Jindal’s presence in the party will help the government’s agenda to boost the country’s economy and prosperity.

  4. Sita Soren is the sister-in-law of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren. She will contest from Dumka (Scheduled Tribes) constituency. She joined the BJP on March 20, citing ‘isolation’ and ‘neglect’ by the JMM since the death of her husband Durga Soren in 2009.

  5. Sita Soren was first elected MLA from Jama in 2009. She then became the National Secretary General of the JMM. She won the Jharkhand elections from Jama again in 2014 and 2019.
