Hoping to end their trophy drought in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have endured a nightmare start to their campaign so far. RCB, one of the few teams yet to win the IPL, lost to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Tuesday, suffering their third defeat in four matches. Chasing 182, RCB were bowled out for 153 in 19.4 overs. Apart from Virat Kohli, no other batsman has managed to provide good accountability. Overseas stars such as captain Faf du Plessis, Glenn Maxwell and Cameron Green have failed to find their feet in the tournament so far.

Like previous seasons, bowling has seen disaster so far with bowlers leaking runs.

Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Ambati Rayudu explained why RCB have never won an IPL. Rayudu said the team lacks consistency in both departments.

“I feel that their bowling always produces above par runs and batting performs below par. No big batsman is seen playing for RCB when they are under pressure. Such teams never win. Rayudu did not mince his words as he smacked the senior players in the dressing room.

RCB are currently ninth in the points table, while LSG occupy the last spot in the play-offs.
