Veteran who holds world record for longest sniper kill weighs in on Trump assassination attempt

A veteran whose team holds the world record for confirmed sniper kills from the farthest distance has intervened in the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump.

Dallas Alexander, who spent 14 years on a Canadian military sniper team providing personal protection to top world leaders including the Canadian prime minister, suggested in a video that the 20-year-old who opened fire at the former president’s rally Saturday night may have received help from within.

“I’m very familiar with the layout of these types of things and how they should work, and yesterday, what happened, I have no doubt that the shooter had assistance from somewhere within an agency, an organization or the government,” he said.help in a video posted on his Instagram and account X.

Authorities said the gunman, Thomas Matthew Crooks, lay on the roof of a building just 150 yards (130 metres) from where Trump was speaking, in full view of his supporters as he fired toward the stage.

But Alexander says he shouldn’t have been able to get that close.

Dallas Alexander, who spent 14 years on a Canadian Army sniper team providing personal protection to top world leaders including the Canadian prime minister, shared his thoughts on the shooting at a Trump rally on Saturday.

“The moment I saw the aerial photo of what they said had happened, it immediately made no sense to me,” he said.

‘You cannot, in broad daylight, climb onto a roof that is a few hundred metres (from the president), if that. You cannot get to that position with a weapon when a president is speaking.

“It can’t be done,” Alejandro insisted.

‘You don’t even have to be a sniper: it’s the most fucking obvious thing, the most obvious place in the entire world.

“You could be like a seventh grader and say, ‘What do we need to do for safety?’ Well, let’s look at these rooftops that are almost within rifle range,” he joked.

“So something happened, and I’m not pointing the finger at anyone. It’s just too obvious that this guy had help to get there.

“So whether someone turned a blind eye or it was strategically planned, it had to be planned at some level, because events like that, security like that, is not a minor thing, and that’s an obvious place to be.”

Alexander suggested that gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks “had help” getting within a few hundred feet of former President Donald Trump and positioning his AR-style rifle.

Alexander went on to say that he would find it “very strange.” that if “someone is good enough to stalk within 200 yards of one of the most difficult targets in the world to stalk,” they wouldn’t miss the shot.

“If you have the skills to get in there, bypassing all these security measures, all the different layers of security, then you’ll have the skills to get to that first round,” he explained.

“This just doesn’t make any sense.”

The bullet apparently intended for Trump on Saturday night whistled past his right cheek and struck his right ear.

“So my view is — whether this comes to light now or much later — that this guy received help from somewhere, and I think that’s obviously concerning,” Alexander said.

“I think this is going to take a while, that’s all we’re going to see for a while,” he added.

“Anyway, just because you keep asking me, that’s my two cents.”

Alexander’s video comes as Republicans and Democrats alike are calling for an urgent investigation into the Secret Service’s response to the shooting.

Witnesses have said they warned police about a man. Armed with an AR style rifle Climb to the top of a building.

He was also reportedly seen and then monitored by law enforcement at the Trump rally site because they sensed something was wrong. But they were then lost sight of before the massacre took place.

Some officials have since suggested that the Secret Service should have conducted routine checks to eliminate all potential threats.

In a damning statement Saturday night, FBI Special Agent Kevin Rojek also said it was “amazing” that Crooks managed to fire so many shots before agents shot him dead.

Protesters said they saw the gunman climb onto the roof.

There were also allegations that Trump’s team asked for more protection for the campaign but was rebuffed.

The Secret Service has since denied those claims, but is still under immense scrutiny for what has been called an “absolute failure.”

President Joe Biden, addressing Americans from the White House on Sunday, promised an “independent review” of what happened at the rally.

“I’m ordering an independent national security review into yesterday’s rally to assess exactly what happened, and we will share the results of that independent review with the American people as well,” Biden said.

Former Secret Service agent Joseph LaSorsa also told DailyMail.com That protection should be increased for former presidents, and Trump will now have nearly the same protection as President Joe Biden.

It also explained why agency agents under fire may not have been able to see the gunman.

‘Remember that they are looking at 360 degrees and they are working with seconds. They are monitoring, maybe in that case it could have been 240 degrees.

‘They were looking at a lot of areas and it only took a few seconds for that individual to get there and fortunately he was a 20-year-old and not a top shooter.

“Luckily for all of us as a country, he was only 20 years old.”

He added: “If they hadn’t taken it out, I would have been able to continue filming.”

“The fact that there was a sniper team that took him out is quite fortuitous and very fortunate for the country, because this could have been a thousand times worse.”

House Republicans now plan to bring Secret Service chief Kimberly Cheatle in for what is expected to be a heated questioning on July 22 as lawmakers demand answers.
