A devastated family has paid a heartbreaking tribute to a mother and her baby who died in a horror accident.

Amy Maher, 33, and three-month-old Arlo died after their car left Caboolture River Road and crashed into a tree at Upper Caboolture, on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, last Friday.

The mother of three children died at the scene.

Passing motorists came across the accident scene and called emergency services, who found baby Arlo ejected from his car seat. courier mail reported.

The three-month-old boy was rushed to hospital but lost his brave fight for life two days later on Sunday.

The couple are survived by Mrs Maher’s husband, Alan, and two young children.

Ms Maher’s sister-in-law, Jade Baulch, paid a touching tribute to Amy and Arlo in a GoFundMe Page created to help the grieving family.

“We are deeply saddened to share the heartbreaking news of the sudden loss of Amy, an exceptional mother and loving wife, and their precious three-month-old baby boy, Arlo,” the page states.

‘Amy’s love knew no bounds for her husband, Alan, and their (three) children.

‘The car accident on Friday, June 7, has deeply impacted not only our family and friends but also our community, including the first responders and hospital staff who fought tirelessly to save Arlo’s life.

‘This unimaginable loss has left Alan and his children devastated. As you go through this incredibly challenging time, we want to support you in any way we can.

“Your generous contributions will allow Alan to focus on the emotional and mental well-being of his young family without the immediate pressure of financial burdens.”

Proceeds will go toward helping Mr. Maher and his surviving children heal and rebuild their lives.

The online fundraiser has raised nearly $20,000 in one day.

“This is a true tragedy and we are trying to do everything we can to help the father and children at this devastating time,” Maher’s brother Josh wrote online.

Burpengary Forensic Accident Unit Sergeant Greg Price told reporters on Saturday that the vehicle was traveling eastbound and had left the road before colliding with “several large trees”.

‘The vehicle suffered extensive damage as a result of the accident. “We are looking for witnesses to the accident or any cameras from the accident,” he said.

‘We are investigating what the driver’s actions were before the accident. Most of the callers (on Friday) encountered the accident, they were not witnesses.
