- The police arrested the young winger in Maroubra
- It is due to an incident that occurred in February.
- Fortunately for Young, his club was able to fix the problem.
Normally when an NRL player is stopped by police it is a very serious matter for their club, but luckily for Sydney star Dominic Young the Roosters have his back.
Police reportedly detained Young in the Sydney beachside suburb of Maroubra last week for a very unusual reason.
News Corp has reported that police detained Britain’s representative because he has an outstanding ambulance bill.
The bill came after an NRL trial match in Gosford in February.
Young was taken to hospital after Sydney’s match against Manly with a neck brace after a crushing tackle by Manly prop Toff Sipley.
Sipley received a three-match suspension and missed the opportunity to represent the Sea Eagles in Las Vegas’ season opener, while Young received a bill in the mail from NSW Ambulance.
Roosters star Dominic Young was a key signing for the Tricolors this season from the Newcastle Knights.
Police arrested Young because he had an outstanding bill with NSW Ambulance
The winger was injured in a Roosters trial match earlier this year and must be taken to hospital.
In New South Wales, residents receive a 49 per cent subsidy but still have to pay 51 per cent of the cost when they need an ambulance.
“I thought it was accidental and it didn’t look good,” Roosters coach Trent Robinson said of Sipley’s tackle at the time.
“There was a lot of strength in that moment.”
Young reportedly thought the invoice had been sent to the Sydney Roosters, but it had been sent directly to him.
News Corp has reported that the Roosters will foot the bill for him now that it has been revealed.
Young was a high-profile signing by the club this season after bursting onto the NRL scene with the Newcastle Knights.
He is a crucial member of the Roosters backline with Billy Smith injured, Joseph Aukuso-Suaalii suspended for his shocking high shot on Reece Walsh and Michael Jennings the latest to join the growing ER.
Young played 61 NRL games and scored 52 tries, including nine this season in 10 appearances for the Roosters.
Young was ruled out with a minor hamstring strain for the Roosters’ most recent game against Parramatta, but is expected to return against the Bulldogs on Saturday.
