A police officer who attended a Brazilian university is under investigation for pointing her gun at a student during a classroom fight.
The police officer confronted a student, who refused to lower her voice, while a professor of mixed physiology was giving a lecture at Estácio College, in the city of Maceió, on the east coast of Brazil, last Friday.
The Civil Police officer was seen arguing with the woman, who was talking about her son’s birthday party, according to Brazilian media outlet G1.
At one point, the student raised her hand toward the officer, who attempted to hit her.
The student then stood up and confronted the officer face to face before being punched.

The students intervened and stopped the police, who pulled out their gun and pointed it at the student, causing her classmates to run out of the classroom and scream for help.
The Second District Civil Police responded to the incident and took the officer and the students to the station for questioning and released them.
Police told investigating officers that he was carrying his gun unloaded because he did not want to leave it in his car after his shift ended.
Neither the school nor the authorities have revealed the names of the two students.

The private school Estácio College is conducting its own investigation after a fight between two students, including one who is a police officer and who in the middle of the fight pulled out a gun and pointed it at his classmate.
“The General Inspection of the Civil Police has instituted an administrative procedure to analyze and investigate the conduct of the police officer, respecting the adversarial system and the full defense of those involved,” the Civil Police of Alagoas reported in a statement.
Estácio College, a private institution, issued a statement saying it was also conducting its own investigation.
“The school reports that the police were called following a disagreement between two students that occurred on Friday night,” the school said.
‘We would like to clarify that the incident will be analysed and all appropriate measures will be taken,’ added Estácio College.
‘The campus management regrets what happened and reinforces that it works to promote a respectful and ethical academic environment, repudiating any type of violent behavior or behavior contrary to the values of the institution.’
