A Premim bond holder scooped a £100,000 prize in the May draw for a £100 share he had bought just over a year earlier.
The lucky winner, based in central London, invested the £100 in premium bonds in March 2023, meaning in just over a year he made a whopping 99.900 per cent return.
Meanwhile, another West Yorkshire-based premium bond holder took home a £50,000 prize from a £125 stake in bonds he bought in June 2018.

Two lucky Premium Bond holders will become millionaires in May after winning £1 million Premium Bond jackpots.
One of the coveted £1 million jackpots was won by a Premium Bonds customer from Hampshire, with a stake of £45,000. The winning bonds were purchased in September 2022.
The other £1m prize was won by a saver based outside London who had a £10,575 stake in premium bonds. The winning bonds were purchased in July 2020.

This month, 45 per cent of the highest value prizes – the £1 million, £100,000 and £50,000 prizes – were won by customers with a maximum holding of £50,000, This is Money analysis can reveal.
A total of 5,888,574 prizes worth £453,420,125 will be paid out in the May 2024 draw.
There were two £1 million prizes in this month’s draw, 87 prizes of £100,000 and 173 prizes of £50,000.
