Patrick Mahomes opened up about his blossoming friendship with Taylor Swift after the singer started dating Kansas City Chiefs teammate Travis Kelce last year.
“I’ve met a lot of famous people in my life; Taylor is probably the most down-to-earth person who’s been on that stage for so long.” Mahomes told TIME after the publication named the Super Bowl winner one of the most influential people of 2024.
“She never stops working. Even when she takes her time off, she is working on something. Record a music video, sing a song or write a song. You can see it by how she talks.
“Even when he talks about football, when he’s learning it, you can see his business mind putting it into action. It’s almost like she’s trying to become a coach. ‘Why can’t you try this, this and this?’ She is asking the right questions.
Mahomes also admitted that Swift’s support of the Chiefs meant the team “went from a national team that was somewhat global to a completely global world team, which came from Taylor’s fan base.”
Swift attended 13 Chiefs games last season and returned from four Eras Tour dates in Tokyo to watch Kelce and Mahomes win the Super Bowl in Las Vegas in February.
She has also developed a close friendship with Brittany Mahomes, Patrick’s wife, since going public with her relationship with Kelce in September.
