Susan Sarandon’s daughter Eva Amurri has admitted she was reduced to tears after nasty trolls called her breasts “saggy” in her low-cut wedding dress, explaining she “intentionally” chose a dress that “showed off her figure” so she could “celebrate herself as a woman”.
The actress, 39, married chef Ian Hock at the end of June, but after sharing a series of photos from the big day online, she faced a barrage of criticism for the way her chest looked in her strapless Kim Kassas gown.
People called the outfit “unflattering,” “inappropriate” and “horrible,” among other things, because it left her ample cleavage on display.
Now, the mother of three has reflected on the nasty comments in an honest and unvarnished post shared on her blog: Happily Eva Afterand admitted that the intense hatred made her cry.
Eva explained that she was at the “wedding after the wedding” and couldn’t wait to share the images with the world; but immediately, she was “blown away” by the response she received.

The 39-year-old actress married chef Ian Hock in late June but faced a barrage of criticism for the way her chest looked in her strapless Kim Kassas gown.
Now, the mother-of-three has reflected on the nasty comments in a candid and pointed post shared on her blog, Happily Eva After, and admitted the immense hate brought her to tears.
“When I saw the post… I was shocked by the fact that it had already gone viral… and for two reasons completely out of my control: my boobs,” she wrote.
“It never occurred to me that people I don’t even know could find my body so offensive, and especially that they would care so much about what I chose to wear on my wedding day.”
Eva – who Susan shares with Italian filmmaker Franco Amurri – said she had “always been naturally very large-breasted” and that her breast size had “fluctuated” over the years as she welcomed and breastfed her three children.
She is the mother of a daughter, Marlowe, eight, and two sons, Major and Mateo, both four, from her nine-year marriage to former soccer star Kyle Martino, 43.
She added that “as anyone with large breasts knows,” the more “exposed and open the chest is,” the more “flattering the clothes will be to the entire figure,” something she specifically had in mind while searching for the perfect dress to say “I do.”
“I had gone shopping for my wedding dress deliberately to show off my figure and really celebrate myself as a woman, body parts included,” she continued.
“Sexy” and “elegant” were two words she mentioned at every dressing appointment.
She included some of the “cruel” comments on the post, which read: “Yes, strapless dresses are not for everyone”, “Horrible and inappropriate dress”, “Horrible dress. So unflattering. Put them away”, “That’s the weirdest display of boobs my eyes have ever seen” and “(Boobs) saggy”.
“I felt hot tears welling up in my eyes in a way that took me back to high school,” Eva reflected on reading the cruel messages.
Eva (seen with one of her sons) said she had “always been naturally very large-chested” and that her breast size had “fluctuated” over the years as she welcomed her three children.
“I felt hot tears welling up in my eyes in a way that took me back to high school,” Eva reflected on reading the cruel messages.
“There were people I didn’t even know, and who didn’t even know me, who were spending time and energy writing something they hoped would bring me one thing and one thing only: embarrassment. And for a second, it worked.”
The star said she had received “horrible things directed at her on the internet in the past” so she thought she had thick skin.
But the “unpleasant feeling” of knowing there were so many “people whose immediate reaction upon witnessing her little family’s joy was to try to hurt her” really got her down.
“Strangers would criticize me for things I never try to clarify about myself (how my boobs look in clothes), because I’m a human being just trying to feel beautiful, be a good person, raise my children and enjoy my life,” she continued.
‘Perhaps, as stupid as it may sound, it had never occurred to me that people could have such a strong reaction to how my body looked in a dress I chose for my own wedding.
‘When you’re processing this kind of emotional aggression from strangers, it’s very unsettling.
“Never in a million years could I imagine seeing a picture of someone living their happiest moment and wanting to publicly destroy them. Even if I hated them.”
She also explained that she “intentionally” chose a dress that “showed off her figure” so that she could “celebrate herself as a woman.” She is seen with her husband before they got married.
But in the end, she took it as a valuable lesson and said she hoped talking about it would encourage other women to feel comfortable in their skin. She was seen in 2019
She theorized that hate boiled down to “fear, self-loathing, insecurity and rage.”
“I stopped feeling sorry for myself and started feeling sorry for those people,” she added.
Eva said she “shudders to think” that her daughter will grow up in an era “when women’s bodies are still a battlefield.”
“Do my breasts have the same vitality they had when I was 20, before I endured human life three times over? Definitely not,” she said.
“Do I care? Some days more than others, but I’m not ashamed of my body.”
But in the end, she took it as a valuable lesson and said she hoped talking about it would encourage other women to feel comfortable in their skin.
“I don’t have a declaration of intent, nor a response, but I do have a message,” he concluded.
“Don’t believe what they say. When did you feel beautiful? YOU WERE. When did you feel like a woman? YOU WERE.
“When did your body feel like it was doing what it was supposed to do? IT WAS. You don’t need anyone’s permission to make the decisions you make for yourself.
“And what happens when people feel something about those elections? Well, that’s none of your business.”
Eva and her chef boyfriend of three years exchanged vows at Windrift Hall in New York’s Hudson Valley.
She had already told it before People Of the corset dress, “I wanted to feel sexy but elegant, and I think the dress strikes the perfect balance.
“I love its vintage feel and its ultra-feminine character without being overly ornate.”
Following the ceremony, she donned a second look of the evening: a minidress, also designed by Kim Kassas, that featured feather and lace trim.
“I paired it with custom Nike Air Force Ones that were embellished with pearls and our wedding date. It looked like Priscilla Presley meets street style,” she told the publication.
