Football superstar Sam Kerr has made the shock admission that his knee injury is “not his only problem” as he refuses to reveal when he will finally return to the pitch.
This comes after Kerr, 31, previously stated that he refuses to rush his rehabilitation because his plan is to continue playing for “many years to come.”
“I’m moving slowly… so it’s going to take a bit longer than I’d like as I’m an impatient person,” Kerr said on the BBC’s recent Women’s Football Weekly podcast.
“But I feel good, I feel strong, I feel healthy and my mind feels good, so I’m in a good place.”
He also said that “there is something else at stake besides the anterior cruciate ligament,” but did not give further details.
This comes after Kerr denied speculation earlier in September that X would be returning imminently.
Responding to a Tweet from Rosie Dawson, Chelsea’s female content creator When Kerr told the BBC that the goalkeeper would return to play in October, his response was terse: “I don’t know who gave you this information, but unfortunately it is incorrect.”
The Matildas captain suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury during a training camp in Morocco in January and watched as Chelsea won the Women’s Super League title in dramatic fashion.

Kerr, 31, has previously stated that his plan is to play for “many more years,” so he is not rushing his rehab.
Kerr recently denied speculation X would return to Chelsea in October.
Kerr (pictured, playing for the Matildas at the 2023 World Cup) was locked in a cell at a London police station on the night she allegedly racially harassed a police officer in January 2023.
Kerr (pictured left with fiancée Kristie Mewis) could face jail time or deportation at worst if convicted at trial next February.
Kerr also missed the Paris Olympics with knee problems, but in better news, once she gets back into her boots, a remarkable 100-goal haul as a Chelsea player awaits her.
“I’m lucky, that’s going to be my first goal,” he said.
“It’s going to be an incredible moment. Scoring 100 goals for Chelsea will be a huge achievement for me. I’m excited.”
Away from football, Kerr will face a four-day criminal trial next February.
He has been charged with aggravated racial harassment of a police officer and will plead not guilty.
It all stemmed from an alleged incident that occurred after a drunken night out in January 2023, just months before the Women’s World Cup on home soil.
If Kerr is convicted, the Matildas captain faces a maximum sentence of two years in prison and could be deported from the UK in the worst case.
