Scottie Scheffler is set to play in this week’s Charles Schwab Challenge despite a turbulent couple of weeks that saw the birth of his first child and his dramatic arrest at the PGA Championship.
Scheffler was arrested on several charges, including second-degree assault on a police officer, a felony, in notable scenes in Valhalla on Friday.
He was released in time to make his tee time and finished tied for eighth in the second major of the year.
Scheffler’s wife Meredith gave birth to their first child, a son named Bennett, just days before the PGA Championship.
However, he is among the participants in the Charles Schwab Challenge, which will be held near his home in Dallas this week.

Absolutely not. But I’m not going to sit here and say that’s why I went out and played a bad round of golf yesterday.
Scheffler received a raucous reception from the crowd in Kentucky, with some fans chanting “Free Scottie.”
“I think when you’re inside the ropes, I don’t really hear a lot of that. It’s nice to hear your name. I heard a lot of ‘Scottie’ chants. I didn’t hear a lot of ‘Free Scottie’ chants,” he said.
“It’s fantastic to have the support of the fans. Being able to play here in front of them week after week is, without a doubt, one of the greatest joys of my life.
