Robert F Kennedy Jr.’s rumored mistress Olivia Nuzzi has rejected his request for a protective order against her ex-fiancé.
The decision ends a months-long legal battle against Ryan Lizza that began once news of her “digital affair” with the former presidential candidate broke.
Nuzzi, 31, accused her ex-partner of trying to blackmail her and threaten her career due to infidelity.
In a new filing in Washington DC Superior Court, Nuzzi claimed that launching her legal bid was her “last resort in her efforts to leave a controlling and abusive relationship.”
The document adds: “She narrowly sought to protect her physical safety and privacy.”
Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s alleged mistress Olivia Nuzzi has rejected his request for a protective order against her ex-fiancé Ryan Lizza.
But the claims were dismissed as lies by Lizza, who said his ex, ‘blatantly used litigation with false and defamatory accusations as a public relations strategy.”
“Now, on the eve of a hearing in which he knew his lies would be exposed, he has taken the only path available and withdrawn his fabricated claims,” Lizza, 50, told Daily Beast.
‘Olivia lied to me for almost a year. He lied to his editors. He lied to his readers. He lied to his colleagues. She lied to reporters. And she lied to the judge in this case.
‘I said I would defend myself against your lies vigorously and successfully and I am fully prepared to do so. But for now I’m glad this matter is closed.
Nuzzi recently parted ways with New York Magazine after admitting to having an “emotional and digital” affair while covering Kennedy, who is married to actress Cheryl Hines.
Politico correspondent Lizza has also taken a “leave” after the explosive court filing alleged she blackmailed Nuzzi over the rumored affair.
Nuzzi claimed in DC Superior Court that Lizza ‘explicitly threatened to make personal information about me public to destroy my life, career, and reputation, a threat she has since carried out.’
His latest appeal to dismiss the case still targets Lizza, accusing him of “inappropriately and irresponsibly using the proceedings as part of his public relations and public defamation strategy.”
New York Magazine parted ways with Nuzzi after she admitted to her bosses to having had an “emotional and digital” affair with Kennedy, who is married to actress Cheryl Hines.
Lizza was struggling to keep the legal battle public after Nuzzi filed a Civil Protection Order, which Lizza didn’t find out about until the press covered it.
She believes he wanted to cause her “more harm” by “inciting more media interest with lewd claims that are relevant to the central issues.”
Documents filed Friday say she kept her filing “narrowly focused only on the two issues that led her to seek court intervention” and to stop Lizza’s harassment and “electronic surveillance” of her.
“Since this matter was filed, the campaign of harassment against the defendant has intensified,” the newspapers stated.
“Defendant (Lizza) has engaged this court in bad faith, using the process as a platform to place destructive and defamatory statements on the public record.”
Nuzzi also accuses her ex-fiancé of “successfully exploiting” media interest to “create an even bigger spectacle aimed at harassing and harming her.”
His filing concludes that “you will get the greatest protection by disassociating yourself from this process.”
Lizza wanted to keep her legal battle public, after Nuzzi filed a Civil Protection Order, which she was not aware of until the press covered it. He wanted to close the case so that it could be “tried in court, not in the media.”
His lawyers say Nuzzi was unfairly trying to “silence Mr. Lizza from telling his side of the story.”
Kennedy, 70, and Nuzzi met while she profiled him for New York magazine last year.
The former political candidate insisted that they only met once and denied that their relationship was physical.
‘Mister. “Kennedy only met Olivia Nuzzi once in her life for an interview she requested, which resulted in a shocking article,” her spokesperson told CNN.
Nuzzi had been suspended after she admitted to her bosses to having an “emotional and digital” affair with Kennedy, who is married to actress Cheryl Hines. Kennedy and Hines will meet in January 2024.
Olivia Nuzzi was a star reporter for New York magazine and met Kennedy while profiling him for an article.
A source added that the nature of the relationship was “emotional and digital in nature, not physical.”
But inside sources told the New York Post that the couple had engaged in ‘sexting’ even though RFK Jr. was married and Nuzzi was engaged to Lizza at the time.
Nuzzi said that in early 2024, the nature of some communication between her and a former reporter became personal.
“Earlier this year, the nature of some communication between a former journalist and myself became personal,” Nuzzi said.
“During that time, I did not directly report on the issue or use them as a source,” he said.
‘The relationship was never physical but should have been revealed to avoid the appearance of conflict. “I deeply regret not doing so immediately and apologize to those I have disappointed, especially my colleagues in New York.”
Kennedy’s wife supported him throughout the controversy and during his decision to withdraw from the presidential race.
At the time of the profile, Kennedy was running as an independent candidate before dropping out to endorse Trump.
Nuzzi joined him for the interview at the $7 million California home he shares with his wife.
He painted a picture of Kennedy as an anti-establishment candidate, “turning the presidential election upside down.”
“Fear – and denial – is what Kennedy seems to inspire among the staid Washington establishment that supports the sitting president and the anti-establishment mafia establishment that supports the former president,” he wrote.
He referred to the conflict in the aspiring politician’s marriage due to his appearance on Steve Bannon’s show and those of other right-wing personalities.
‘Bannon was just the beginning. Poor Cheryl,” Nuzzi wrote.
However, Hines appears unfazed by the allegations despite rumors that she was planning to divorce her husband.
