Baker Mayfield dressed as 'Gus Swayze'

Baker Mayfield dressed up as a Buccaneers superfan while interacting with other Tampa Bay fans for the pilot of a new Amazon Prime series.

The eighth-year veteran starred in episode 1 of Peyton and Eli Manning’s The Undercovers series, in which NFL stars go undercover and interact with their respective fan bases before revealing their identities.

In the first installment of the series, Mayfield wore a prosthetic nose, a long wig, and a bandana. He also sported a fake mustache while on his undercover trip.

“I’m no longer Baker Mayfield, now I’m going to be Gus Swayze,” he said in a preview of the show.

The minute-long montage included Mayfield calling his wife Emily Wilkinson to say ‘Hi, pretty mom’, after finishing her makeover. His partner then responded by saying ‘Ew!’

He is then seen walking around the Buccaneers practice facility while his teammates laugh at his character.

Mayfield is also seen meeting with fans, discussing his performances, to which Swayze says, “I wish he would just focus on football.”

Additionally, Mayfield’s alter ego said he “hopes he can handle” calling his plays this year after a fan brought up the topic.

Mayfield is in his second season facilitating the Bucs’ offense. Before arriving in 2022, he spent four seasons in Cleveland and had one-season stints in Carolina and Los Angeles.

The Bucs are off to a good start with a 3-1 record this season. Aside from a Week 2 loss to Denver, Mayfield led Tampa Bay to convincing wins over Philadelphia, Detroit and Washington.

Mayfield has completed 91 of his 129 attempts for 984 yards and eight touchdowns with just two interceptions.

Before bringing the idea of undercover quarterbacks to Amazon Prime, Eli Manning starred in a similar concept when he crashed Penn State tryouts dressed as Chad Powers.

The segment was made for his series Eli’s Places for Omaha Productions.
