Taylor Swift tops a new promo for the 2024 NFL season ahead of this week’s first round of games, leaving football fans absolutely furious.
Diehard sports fans were less than pleased with the level of media coverage Swift received when she attended her boyfriend Travis Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs games last season.
And with just days until opening night of the 2024 season, when defending Super Bowl champions Kansas City host the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, the NFL has already sparked outrage for featuring the pop megastar more than anyone else in its new promo.
In the video, which runs through six months of the season’s calendar to showcase highlights from the 2023 campaign, Swift appears an incredible five times.

She is first seen celebrating alongside Kelce’s mother Donna at Arrowhead in two separate clips for September, before January includes her arriving at a game wearing a custom-made Chiefs ‘Kelce 87’ jacket.
January also shows Taylor sharing a kiss with Travis on the field after Kansas City’s AFC Championship win in Baltimore, while a clip of her drinking a beer on the big screen at last season’s Super Bowl appears in February.
Meanwhile, star quarterback Brock Purdy, who inspired the San Francisco 49ers to a Super Bowl appearance last year, and his Cincinnati Bengals counterpart Joe Burrow fail to appear even once in the video.
Other high-profile players who did not appear in the promotion include quarterbacks CJ Stroud (Houston Texans), Matthew Stafford (LA Rams) and Jordan Love (Green Bay Packers).
And despite being considered the face of the NFL, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes only appears at the end of the video as he raises the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
Swift appears more than anyone else in the video after appearing five times, and the NFL showed clips of her celebrating with Travis Kelce’s mother, Donna (left), and kissing her boyfriend (right).
Brock Purdy, who inspired the San Francisco 49ers to a Super Bowl appearance last year, does not appear in the promo.
Another high-profile player not listed is Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow.
NFL fans are furious with the number of times Swift appeared in the promo and took to X to vent their frustrations.
One wrote in amazement: ‘Taylor Swift appeared 5 times in this 28 second clip of football’s return.’
Another fumed: ‘STOP SHOWING TAYLOR SWIFT THAT WE DON’T CARE.’
A third posted: “I watched Taylor Swift 5 times and didn’t even see my own team.”
A fourth commented: ‘Haha I can be okay with Taylor Swift appearing once but being the only individual given that much screen time for an NFL promo video is absurd.’
“WHY ARE WE SHOWING TAYLOR SWIFT 5 TIMES? I THOUGHT THIS WAS FOOTBALL,” lamented another.
Football fans are not happy with the amount of coverage given to Swift in the promotion.
While one joked: ‘Taylor Swift promo video.’
It remains to be seen whether Swift will attend Kelce and the Chiefs’ season opener against the Ravens in Kansas City on Thursday night.
The singer isn’t scheduled to resume her international Eras Tour until she travels to Miami on Oct. 18, meaning she has a clear schedule if she wants to support her man in Arrowhead.
