A young Australian woman has revealed how her lower leg had to be amputated after a horrific garden accident just a week after her wedding.
Megan McKee, 33, suffered catastrophic injuries after her foot was run over by a lawnmower at her new home in Paxton, in the Hunter region of New South Wales, last month.
McKee and his wife Stephanie Pascoe, 31, had bought the house in the village of about 1,200 people just six weeks earlier.
The newlyweds were mowing the natural area of the front yard when the lawnmower hit an embankment, causing it to wobble.
He remembered putting his foot on the grass before the lawnmower ran over it.
Pascoe was playing with McKee’s little boy, Parker, in the grass when he heard an ear-piercing scream, he said. Yahoo News.
‘I left the child and ran. “His injuries became evident very quickly,” he said.
‘I panicked. “I really didn’t expect it to be that big.”

Pascoe remembers that the first thing his wife told him was, “I’m going to die.”
“Looking at his injuries and the amount of blood coming out at the time, it probably wasn’t a crazy idea,” he said.
‘It almost cut off his entire foot. It went between the second and third fingers and then reached the ankle.
Pacoe said neighbors rushed to help; one called an ambulance and the other took off his shirt to use his bra as a tourniquet.
Ms McKee was flown to John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle where she underwent emergency surgery.
Unfortunately, due to his horrific injuries, he was told the next morning that his lower leg would need to be amputated.
“(Mrs. McKee) had anticipated that, but I wasn’t very prepared,” Pascoe said, adding that she was also worried about how the hospital bills would be paid.
McKee and his wife Stephanie Pascoe, 31, had bought their new home in the town of about 1,200 people just six weeks before the accident.
The couple’s friend and marriage celebrant, Sarah Chippindale, created a GoFundMe for the couple, who have since raised $22,000.
He said the couple will spend their honeymoon in the hospital.
“In addition to this physical and emotional journey, their lives have completely changed,” Chippindale wrote in the campaign.
‘This healing time will obviously demand your full concentration, and financial burdens should not add to your worries.
‘With extended hospital stays, surgeries, rehabilitation and time away from work ahead, Megs and Steph face a challenging road as they care for little Parker and manage their mortgage.
“They had so many plans ahead of them and now they’ve all been shattered into a million pieces.”
