A groom was killed by a volley of bullets just hours after marrying the love of his life, as heartbroken relatives pay tribute to the newlywed.
Tyrek Burton, 37, tragically lost his life Saturday night outside the Barber Park Events Center in Greensboro, North Carolina, after marrying his wife Kiara Holloway, 33.
Officers with the Greensboro Police Department responded around 8:49 p.m. to reports of a shooting and when they arrived, they located Burton with “life-threatening injuries.”
During the horrific scene, a dispatcher said Burton was shot 15 times, according to a recording from Broadcastify, a police scanner system, obtained by WRAL News.
Police said that although “life-saving efforts were immediately initiated,” Burton died that same night.
The exact motive for the gruesome shooting is unclear. Police said the officer responded “in reference to an aggravated assault,” while Burton’s cousin, Keisha Satterfield, said the boyfriend died “due to road rage that ended in gun violence.”
