A man who allegedly endangered a woman’s life by pushing her onto the train tracks at the start of rush hour has faced court.

Patrick Stewart, 54, appeared in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Friday, charged after the incident at Richmond train station on July 3.

At the end of a brief hearing, Stewart told the court: “I wish to plead guilty to all of the offences.”

But Magistrate Tim Shocker said: “I can’t deal with that today, speak to (defence lawyer) Mr Boyle” and adjourned the matter until August 7.

Earlier this month, a 64-year-old woman was allegedly pushed onto the tracks at the Richmond station.

She was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Stewart faces charges of conduct endangering life, conduct endangering serious injury, reckless conduct causing injury and unlawful assault of a woman for the train station incident.

He has also been charged with unrelated incidents, including alleged robbery, theft, aggravated robbery, trespassing, unlawful assault and threats to kill.

Defence lawyer Callan Boyle told the court Stewart had been in an isolation ward for flu, delaying police receiving and processing the information.

The judge revoked Stewart’s bail until his next court appearance in August.
