Investors: The Luther Elba actor, 52, and his wife Sabrina, 35
An Idris Elba-backed company that makes meal replacements for those who don’t want to cook has seen its sales and profits soar.
Huel, which sells drinks and bars packed with protein, fibre, fat and other essential nutrients, almost tripled its profits to £13.8m in the year to 31 July. Sales rose 16 per cent to £214 million.
Founded in 2015, Huel targets health-conscious millennials, commuters and those who are too busy to cook.
In 2022, the Luther Elba actor, 52, and his wife Sabrina, 35, (pictured) backed Huel in a £20million fundraiser.
James McMaster, chief executive since 2017, said: “The future for Huel is bright.”
He said the business is poised to capitalize on consumers who want to start improving their health in the New Year.
