It’s been five years since Varsity Blues’ college admissions backfire turned Lori Loughlin’s life upside down.
But now the Full House star, 59, has revealed that she is far removed from the drama and the two-month jail sentence and has a new perspective on life.
Lori, who is mother to daughters Olivia Jade, 24, and Isabella Rose, 25, with husband Mossimo Giannulli, 60, sat down for an interview for the current issue of first for women magazine and revealed that he has discovered the secret to happiness.
‘Every day we encounter different obstacles. But, to me, it’s like that song says, ‘I get knocked down, but I get up again,'” Loughlin said, referencing Chumbawamba’s 1997 hit Tub Thumping.
‘No one said life was going to be very easy; We all make mistakes, but the important thing is to persevere,’ he added, highlighting that a healthy lifestyle has been of great help to him.

But now the Full House star, 59, is far away from the bad press and the two-month jail sentence and has a new perspective on life, pictured in 2006.
Lori noted that she spent the last few years working on herself and discovered that one of the most important lessons she learned is to ask for forgiveness. And that means forgiving yourself and others.
‘I try to be a forgiving person. I’m not someone who holds on to things. Things happen to everyone. We have all been in a position to ask for forgiveness, but to ask for it we must learn and know how to forgive as well,’ he stated.
‘My family was not one to hold grudges. “I didn’t grow up in a home where if you made a mistake you weren’t forgiven,” she explained.
‘No one is perfect, we all make mistakes. That’s why they always told me to let things go. And I think for your own health, you have to let things go because you can’t hold on to negativity. Life is too short.
‘We have all been in situations where we need to ask for forgiveness. But to ask for forgiveness, I have learned that you must first learn to forgive others and yourself,” explained Lori, who parodied her role in the college admissions scandal during an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm.
And when it comes to interacting with negative people, the When Calls the Heart star tries to consider the other person.
‘I always try to consider what other people might be going through and thinking before I speak. I try to take a moment if a person is acting out and say, “Wait a minute… I don’t know their whole story.”
Part of her daily routine includes taking time for herself, saying: ‘It’s about taking time to be at home and maybe do nothing. That’s number one. Sitting down and watching a Harlan Coben mystery on Netflix is great too. “They’re just easy and not a big commitment to watch,” she said.
‘We also have the Golf Channel in an area of our house. It’s relaxing to see or just hear,” she admitted.
‘The children are no longer at home, my husband leaves early for work, so it’s just me. “Life is very busy, so it’s good to slow down and enjoy not doing much,” he said.
And she goes to bed early and gets up early. “I sleep about eight hours. I fall asleep at 9 or 10 at the latest. When you sleep, that’s when the body heals and does all its good work.

The Fuller House actress and her husband Giannulli were among about 50 people, including actress Felicity Huffman, who were accused of paying bribes and cheating to help their children get into top U.S. colleges.
Prosecutors alleged that the couple paid $500,000 of their net worth to have their two daughters admitted to the University of Southern California as recruits for the team, even though they had never participated in the sport.
Loughlin pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud and was ordered to pay a $150,000 fine, complete 100 hours of community service and serve two months in prison.
After also facing a plea to prosecutors, Giannulli was sentenced to five months in prison, fined $250,000 and ordered to complete 250 hours of community service.
