Latrell Mitchell has told the football world to “move on” following his expletive-laden post-match interview last week, insisting there was no malice behind his comments.

Mitchell was invited to meet NRL chief executive Andrew Abdo after swearing four times live on Triple M following South Sydney’s loss to Brisbane last Thursday night.

The Bunnies superstar is expected to avoid any punishment for the bizarre interview, with his Rabbitohs teammates jokingly bringing a swear jar into the dressing room.

Captain Cameron Murray advised Mitchell to be more selective in his language and, responding to a Fox League post with his skipper’s comments, the full-back had his say.

“There was no intention. No malice. Let’s get out of here. Have a great week ahead. Friday night lights,” he posted on Instagram stories.

The Rabbitohs have taken matters into their own hands, creating an internal swear jar to help keep players in line.

“Trell has a few bucks to invest after the weekend,” Souths recruit Jack Wighton said.

“Obviously he probably shouldn’t have said it so many times, but it’s a slip of the tongue.

“I could be there (the swear jar) a few times if you listen in practice!”

Murray shrugged off the incident as the Rabbitohs looked ahead to Friday’s grudge match against the Sydney Roosters.

“I didn’t see much harm in it,” he said.

“I know he’s a passionate man and I know all he wants to do is win. Those are two really good attributes that I think Latrell has and things that I will always support.

“Trell is Trell and I think what we do very well at this club is empowering people to be themselves. I know if he had his time again he would probably be a a little more selective about the words he chooses.
