Lando Norris and his McLaren team were dramatically evacuated from their motorhome at the Spanish Grand Prix when a fire broke out.

Those in the building, including journalists at a media lunch, detected smoke before they were ordered to leave.

Pirelli’s Formula 1 and motor racing boss Mario Isola, who is a part-time paramedic, was said to be one of the first to arrive at the scene.

He and some of his colleagues from the tire company ran into the building with fire extinguishers to try to put out the flames.

It wasn’t long before the Team Hub hospitality unit was cleared, and fire trucks and ambulances came rushing into the paddock.

Four of the firefighters who had entered quickly left the hospitality area wearing masks, one on a stretcher, one in a wheelchair, one walking and another was transported in an ambulance.

Norris and his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri They were evacuated safely, and the Briton is photographed standing on the sidewalk in his socks.

Meanwhile, team manager Zak Brown watched from as close to the scene as the security cordon would allow, smoke filling the hot air.

It is believed that no one was seriously injured, but that has not yet been confirmed.

The fire, which is said to have started in the kitchen, broke out shortly before midday, half an hour before the start of third practice at the Circuit de Catalunya.

However, the practice went ahead as planned.

McLaren issued a statement saying: “This morning we evacuated our hospitality unit from the Team Hub paddock following a fire alert, the team has been safely evacuated while local firefighters deal with the issue.”

This is not the first fire incident at the Spanish Grand Prix, as Williams’ garage caught fire after fuel ran out in 2012.

Earlier, bailiffs had entered the three-story building with fire extinguishers; Some were taken out or taken in ambulances, since they entered without breathing apparatus.
