Katy Perry’s unexpected link up with AFL WAGs Rebecca Judd and Nadia Bartel was revealed after her long-awaited headline gig at the AFL Grand Final on Saturday.
The American pop sensation, 39, dazzled the 100,000 MCG crowd with an electrifying performance ahead of the Brisbane Lions’ clash with the Sydney Swans.
As well as capturing attention with her vocals and high-energy hits, Katy’s 20-minute set also had a highly unlikely link with Australian household names Rebecca, 41, and Nadia, 39.
Katy took to the stage with a glowing complexion which was achieved with the help of none other than Rebecca and Nadia’s popular tanning company, Spray Aus.
Emily McKay, who founded Spray Aus with the help of the WAGs, took to Instagram to reveal that she had personally visited Katy at her hotel to apply the spray tan using her mobile tanning service.

He then caused even more surprise with his set list by not singing Hot n Cold, despite it being the famous MasterChef Australia theme song and many jokingly considering it to be the true Australian “national anthem”.

Following reports that AFL bosses restricted her to just one new song, she also sang two tracks from her 2024 album 143: Lifetimes and Gorgeous, her collaboration with Kim Petras.
Although fans praised his vocal talent, many viewers were also baffled by an unusual detail during the performance, which they said had no place in an AFL Grand Final.
Viewers at home took to social media to mercilessly mock her decision to accompany her real-life performance and dance moves with a variety of “bizarre” CGI effects.
Katy was reportedly hoping her AFL show would “revive” her “faltering” pop career and help promote her new album 143, which has received divisive reviews.
Another wrote: ‘No Australian act has the profile and appeal. I’ve tried to think of one and I can’t. Every legendary act is already too old.

Appearing on SEN Breakfast before her show, the veteran AFL journalist claimed they reached a compromise and Katy stuck to just playing one new song.
Their long-awaited seventh studio album, 143, which references the expression “I love you,” did not get off to a good start among music critics, receiving lukewarm reviews.
A damning review of her first album in four years by a major entertainment outlet declared that Perry “struggles to recapture past glory on the 143rd floor.”
