Kamala Harris’ stepdaughter struggled to contain her emotions as the vice president acknowledged Donald Trump on Wednesday.
Ella Emhoff, 25, was visibly distraught and with tears flowing as her stepmother thanked her wholeheartedly.
“To my beloved Doug and our family, I love you so much,” Harris said.
Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff was seen hugging his daughter and hugging his son, Cole.
Throughout the event, it wasn’t just Harris’ family that was visibly shaken. His running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, patted him on the heart and appeared to hold back tears as the current vice president thanked him and his family.
Doug Emhoff proceeded to pat Walz on the back as the gathered crowd cheered.

The emotional Walz at one point bowed his head as Harris spoke and clasped his hands together.
Harris became stepmother to Ella and Cole, who they affectionately called ‘Momala’ after she married their father.
She has made numerous appearances on the campaign trail alongside Harris and appeared on stage when she accepted the nomination at the 2024 Democratic National Convention.
Harris finally relented to former President Trump during a phone call Wednesday, saying she urged a peaceful transfer of power and encouraged Trump to be a president for all Americans.
Her father, Doug Emhoff, was later seen hugging his daughter closely.
He later took the stage at his alma mater Howard University in the nation’s capital while telling his many tearful supporters who had gathered at the school that “this is not what we wanted.”
During her speech, Harris promised to help with the peaceful transfer of power, even as she said she would continue her battle after Trump’s dominant victory.
“While I recognize this election, I do not recognize the fight that fueled this campaign,” he said.
The vice president’s voice shook at times as she addressed a massive crowd of supporters.
‘My heart is full today. Full of gratitude for the trust you have placed in me. Full of love for our country and full of determination,’ she said in her first appearance since voters rejected her vision of America.
Emhoff hugged his children, Ella and Cole, during the speech.
“The outcome of this election is not what we wanted, what we fought for, or what we voted for, but hear me when I say, hear me when I say, the light of America’s promise will always shine,” he said. .
Harris thanked President Joe Biden, his family, his staff and his supporters. He also expressed pride in his campaign.
‘Look, I’m very proud of the race we ran. And the way we execute it,” he said.
‘I now know that people are feeling and experiencing a variety of emotions right now. I understand. But we must accept the results of these elections,” he said.
He went on to tell his followers that he had spoken to Trump and congratulated him on his victory.
Harris took the stage at his alma mater Howard University and told tearful supporters who had gathered at the school that “this is not what we wanted.”
“I also told him that we will help him and his team with his transition and that we will participate in a peaceful transfer of power.” He said he would respect the results.
Still, the atmosphere at the event was somber as fans cried and exchanged hugs.
