Talk show host Montel Williams may have briefly dated Kamala Harris, but that doesn’t mean she can count on his support.
When news circulated that President Joe Biden would step aside and endorse his vice president, Williams weighed in on social media declaring he was ready to campaign.
But not necessarily for her. Instead, he said he was willing to support Wes Moore, the governor of Maryland and someone seen as a future presidential or vice presidential candidate in 2024.
“I would love to see Wes Moore at the top of the ticket or not on my ticket and I’m ready to campaign,” he posted on X.
“I’ve watched Wes Moore lead my home state of Maryland, and I know leadership when I see it.”

Moore is a rising star in the Democratic Party and was only the third black man elected governor.
But her comments quickly raised suspicions given that Williams briefly dated Harris more than 20 years ago.
This was followed by a series of further publications.
“Is anyone surprised that I’m interested in a politician who also went to the Naval Academy and whose leadership has impressed me?” he said, after posting Moore’s endorsement of the vice president.
And when his comments were picked up by celebrity channel TMZ, he offered a clarification, saying he was willing to back whoever the party’s nominee was.
It was clear he was ripe for scrutiny even before old photographs of him with Harris resurfaced.
He used a post to discourage reporters from asking him about Harris.

“I’ve said what I’m going to say about what’s still trending,” he wrote.
‘My friends in the media should think twice before wasting their time on a photograph from more than 20 years ago; they will find that doing so will provoke an unpleasant reaction.’
Harris is in pole position to assume the party’s nomination after Biden announced Sunday that he would not seek re-election.
He endorsed Harris as his successor, and she quickly cemented her position with support from state lawmakers and parties.
