Since becoming the head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers, Jim Harbaugh has lived in a mobile home.
Being an NFL head coach is one of the furthest things from pro-bono work, as Harbaugh will earn $16 million a year upon his return to professional football.
Harbaugh signed a five-year contract with the Chargers in January, 16 days after leading Michigan to its first national championship since 1997.
Harbaugh has never held a head coaching position outside of the state of California or his alma mater.
However, while living in an RV is not typical for a football coach, he is not the only member of the Chargers staff currently doing so.
Harbaugh told the media about his joy of living in an RV since moving to Los Angeles.

‘It has been great. Just being myself. I always wanted to do that (and live in a mobile home),’ Harbaugh said. ‘It worked very well. I’m 100 feet from (Chargers offensive coordinator) Greg Roman, who has a really good RV.’
‘In the RV world, I’m not that sophisticated. My Ford Motorcoach got me right,” Harbaugh added. ‘It’s been incredible. Yeah, it’s been really good. I go back there, it’s a good time to think. It’s been just great.’
“Now that’s coming to an end, happily coming to an end, because my family is coming to California,” Harbaugh said. ‘They’re all here on this trip and we’re all going to California together. We’re moving into our rental house and that’s even better.’
According to Harbaugh, his brother-in-law drove a motor home to California for him to live there.
Although Harbaugh does not mention him by name, his sister, Joani, is married to former college basketball coach Tom Crean.
