Jennifer Lopez’s mother Guadalupe Rodriguez is urging her daughter to leave Ben Affleck out of fear the singer is losing sight of her identity, according to people close to her who say her family believes she deserves better than a man who has decided to “throw in the towel” rather than fight to save their relationship.
The On The Floor singer, 54, and the double Oscar winner, 51, have been plagued for months by reports that their two-year marriage is in crisis, with photos of them without their wedding rings and living in separate homes further fueling speculation they are on the brink of divorce.
Lopez’s 78-year-old mother is now said to be strongly encouraging her daughter to “cut her losses” and file for divorce so she can focus on her career and her children – 16-year-old twins Emme and Max.
“Jennifer’s mother told her: ‘Stop losing and move on to avoid getting into this mess any further,'” a source told DailyMail.com exclusively.

The source said Lopez’s sisters, Leslie Ann and Lynda, share their mother’s concerns and fear the singer-actress has lost perspective on what her marriage has become.
‘Jennifer currently feels like Ben doesn’t deserve her and her sisters agree,’ they continued.
‘They want Jennifer to be happy, of course, but they feel like their sister is so caught up in what she was supposed to be that she doesn’t see it for what it is now.
“They want her to file for divorce first and move on with her life, focusing on her children and her career.”
The source concluded: ‘It’s upsetting to his family and Jennifer that Ben can’t see that there is a woman loved by millions who will love him forever, but would rather throw in the towel than try to fix things.’

The claims mark a significant about-face from Lopez’s mother, who last year revealed on national television that she “prayed” for two decades for her daughter to reconcile with the Gone Girl actor.
A source close to the couple told DailyMail.com that Lopez’s mother “wants her to file for divorce first and move on with her life, focusing on her children and her career.”

Speaking to Savannah Guthrie on the Today show, she said: “I knew they would always get back together because I prayed for 20 years.”
At the time, Lopez was stunned by her mother’s comments, telling Entertainment Tonight: “It’s so funny, she never said that to me. We never talked about it.”
“She really loved him when we were together before.”
The famous couple were engaged in the early 2000s before splitting, then reuniting in 2021 and then tying the knot in July 2022.
They were inseparable after their much-publicized reunion, but in recent months the couple have gone weeks without being seen together.
They were last photographed together in public on June 2, when they shared an awkward kiss on the cheek at Affleck’s son Samuel’s basketball game in Los Angeles.
They later attended the 12-year-old’s graduation event and after-party at Affleck’s current home in Brentwood, California, on June 12, but were photographed separately.
The estranged couple are reportedly no longer living together, with sources close to the couple claiming that Affleck removed her belongings from their marital home when Lopez was on vacation last month.
The actor has been living in the $100,000-a-month rental property located near his ex-wife Jennifer Garner, 52, while Lopez lives in the $60 million Bel Air mansion they purchased last year.
On July 1, Affleck was photographed arriving at his Beverly Hills office with luggage.
The pictures emerged after it was reported that he “moved his stuff” out of their home as Lopez enjoyed a solo trip to Italy before later traveling to France for Paris Fashion Week.
Her current situation has also proven difficult for Garner, who has reportedly made a conscious decision to step away from the “circus” surrounding her ex and their marital issues, as the current situation has dredged up “painful” memories for the actress.

“Jen finally got to a point where she said, ‘I’m sorry, you deal with this yourself,'” a source told DailyMail.com exclusively this week.
“It was starting to get too painful for her because it brought back so many memories of her divorce.”
The source added: ‘Jen opened the doors of her home and her life to JLo because she had put the past behind her. She cares about JLo and she worries about her children and how it will affect them all.
“But in the end, it’s not Jen’s circus, it’s not Jen’s monkeys, and she will no longer be a marriage counselor for her ex-husband and his wife.”
Close sources had previously revealed how the Elektra actress had been playing a “counselor” role to the couple in an attempt to help them sort out their alleged issues.
In addition to Samuel, Garner also shares daughters Violet, 18, and Fin, 15, with Affleck. She was married to the actor from 2005 until their divorce was finalized in 2018.
