A woman doesn’t know what to do after discovering an uncomfortable secret on her boyfriend’s father’s phone.
After being with her partner for six months and meeting her parents several times, the girlfriend noticed a dating app on her father’s phone.
Sharing the story on a Facebook dating group, the woman said she was attending an intimate dinner with family when she was asked to set up a security app on the older couple’s phones.
He then saw the app icon for Zoosk, a global dating service for singles, on the man’s phone.
“I didn’t say anything and pretended I hadn’t seen it,” the woman wrote, adding that the couple has been married for 35 years.
‘My boyfriend hasn’t seen it and has never used dating apps so I don’t think he knows what it is.
‘I feel… guilty. Should I say something to my partner or keep my mouth shut?
Hundreds of people commented on the post and struggled to agree on what it should do. Many said he should go ahead and share what he saw, while others argued it would cause more harm than good.
A girlfriend who discovered a dating app on her boyfriend’s father’s phone has sparked a fierce online debate over whether or not she should open up to her partner.
‘This is very complicated. I feel like I would say something to my partner. We don’t hide anything at all. One day you will regret not saying anything,’ said one.
“I would tell my partner that everyone deserves to know,” added another.
“Just tell your partner and he can do whatever he wants with that information, but ignoring it could damage your relationship,” chimed in a third.
Some said that “getting things off their chest” by confessing the truth to their boyfriend and letting him decide what to do was the best course of action.
Others argued that if the app was visible on the father’s home screen, then he could be hiding even more serious things from his spouse, and that the girlfriend should alert the wife, even if she did so anonymously.
Most insisted that it was definitely time for “closure” and that getting involved in the sensitive situation with their unknown family dynamic would only blow up in their faces.
“Keep your mouth shut, it’s not your problem, you’ll just cause a lot of unnecessary drama,” one said.
Others argued that adultery was not the only possible explanation behind the dating app and that it would be “super embarrassing” for everyone if the older couple were swingers.
‘Leave him alone. “They could have an open relationship, among other things, and this could cost them their relationship with their partner,” said one.
Some people told the original poster that she should be more concerned about her own position on stage, especially since she was in a relatively new relationship.
“They’ll make you look like a bad person,” said one.
“They always kill the messenger,” added another.
