Maine State Police unearthed the bones and took them to the chief medical examiner’s office for identification, where they discovered the skeleton belonged to a man.

“It’s a disappointment in some ways,” the father said. ‘But we have to remember it and see it from our point of view. We are one of the families that has a missing loved one. We will have a family that is going to get closure now.

Around the same time Kim disappeared, Harold Simpson, a 28-year-old from Livermore Falls, also disappeared. The bones found on Saturday have not yet been identified.

Moreau isn’t done with the area as he plans to ask police to return with search dogs to see if there is another set of remains there.

There are currently 35 people missing in Maine, including Kim and Simpson, according to state police records.
