Fans have joked on social media that Jack Grealish and James Maddison will head to Ibiza for their ‘annual trip’ this summer after they were both left out of Gareth Southgate’s final squad for Euro 2024.
It was revealed on Thursday that the pair would not be traveling to Germany for this summer’s tournament, while Harry Maguire will also miss out due to a calf injury earlier in the season.
Grealish and Maddison have largely struggled to live up to the standards we expect of them after enduring a disappointing season, with both players also battling injuries during the 2023-24 campaign.
Following their omission from England’s Euro 2024 squad, fans have taken to social media to joke that the couple will now use their free time to take a break from football and fly to Ibiza. It comes after Grealish returned from a brief break following Manchester City’s title win, to take part in England’s Euro training camp last week.
Several even joked that the Manchester City star had “agreed a four-week deal to join O Beach on loan” by posting a photo of Grealish with co-owner of the popular Ibiza day club, Wayne Lineker.

It came after Grealish (centre) and James Maddison were not included in Gareth Southgate’s squad for Euro 2024, with some joking online that the pair would fly to Ibiza.
Some even compared the couple to Kevin and Perry (left and right) from the movie Kevin and Perry Go Large.
“BREAKING: Jack Grealish has completed a four-week loan deal to O Beach, Ibiza, after being left out of the England squad,” wrote one X (formerly Twitter) user.
Grealish has regularly frequented the party spot on the Balearic island in the past, and Lineker posted a photo of the two together on his Instagram in 2023, captioning the photo: ‘The boy is back!!! Annual photo from @jackgrealish’s annual trip to Ibiza #yesjack #ibiza20233’.
The Manchester City star, 28, has been pictured on several occasions enjoying parties at the infamous dayclub. Sports stars from around the world regularly frequent the place; Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott was photographed there just over a week ago.
Fans have mocked Grealish’s regular visits to the Spanish islands for years, with the winger pictured last summer taking over the popular Hi nightclub, playing back-to-back with popular Australian DJ Fisher.
Another added: “A moment of silence for Jack Grealish’s liver.” O Beach has just confirmed his loan from Manchester City for the next four weeks.
Maddison has also been previously spotted at the popular beach club, having frequented Ibiza on several occasions in recent years. In 2021, the Tottenham star also missed a call-up for Euro 2020 and was subsequently seen partying with several women in Ibiza. She was seen alongside Grealish and Everton midfielder Dele Alli relaxing on a sun lounger following the end of the Premier League season.
His omission came after he allegedly breached lockdown rules and went to a party in April of that year.
One wrote on X (formerly Twitter): ‘A moment of silence for Jack Grealish’s liver. O Beach has just confirmed his loan from Manchester City for the next four weeks.’
Others also posted photos of Grealish (right) and Wayne Lineker (left) at the popular Ibiza day club.
England manager Gareth Southagte insisted he took into account the recent form of Grealish (left) and Maddison (right) when deciding who to drop from his squad.

Grealish had gone on holiday and posted this snap on his Instagram, before returning to join England’s Euro training camp.

The 27-year-old has also previously been pictured at O Beach Club in Ibiza with Lineker, with fans mocking him and Grealish, with one posting a meme of duo Kevin and Perry from the movie Kevin & Perry Go Large: two teenagers. who are trying to travel to Ibiza with the aim of becoming international DJs.
The X user compared Grealish and Maddison to Kevin and Perry, writing: “Jack Grealish and James Maddison finding out they’re not in the England squad.”
Another posted a photo of Grealish smiling while wearing an England training shirt and said: “Grealish watching Maddison in Ibiza.”
Curtis Jones, Jarrad Branthwaite, James Trafford and Jarrell Quansah were also informed that they would not be included in the final squad.
But Maddison and Grealish were the two main victims and Southgate opened up about his decision to omit the pair on Thursday.
“These have been difficult decisions that we have gone over and over again as a staff group to try to be fair and get the right justification.
‘And we stand by our decisions, but recognize that we could have taken a different route. Both guys are great characters, great teammates, and great guys to work with. So yeah, it’s sad to tell you that news.”
Grelish (pictured) has had a disappointing performance for City this season, having started just 10 league games.
Maddison (pictured) has struggled to return to full fitness after being ruled out for a long period with injury.

Following the announcement, Maddison issued a statement online admitting her disappointment, but that she would use the snub as motivation to bounce back.
He said: “Devastated is not enough. I trained well and worked hard all week, but if I’m honest with myself, my form for Spurs when I returned from injury in the second half of the season probably wasn’t at the levels I had set, which gave Gareth a decision to make.
“I still thought there would be a space for me in a 26-man team because I feel like I bring something different and I had been a pillar throughout this qualifying campaign for Euro 2024 in Germany, but the coach made the decision and I have to do it.” . respect that.
