Police have launched an urgent search for a gunman after he opened fire on a house containing nine people, including four children.
Emergency services were rushed to a house on Cabramatta Road in Cabramatta, south-west of Sydney, shortly before 11.45pm after receiving reports that the house was riddled with bullets.
The gunman, who was inside a white Toyota Corolla driving up the path in front of the house, opened fire before fleeing the scene.
Nine people, including five adults and four children, were trapped inside the house.
The nine occupants escaped the shooting unharmed.
Police launched an investigation into the incident and declared the house a crime scene.
A white Corolla was later found on fire on Hamel Road in the neighboring suburb of Mt Pritchard.
Firefighters extinguished the fire, but the vehicle was destroyed.

Investigators confirmed the Corolla was the same vehicle involved in the shooting and is the subject of a forensic examination.
